Gürkan Kayabaşoğlu was born in Sakarya in 1979.
He studied at Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine between 1997-2003.
He started his Ear Nose and Throat specialty training at Kartal Training and Research Hospital, but this training, which is routine for most specialist candidates, was much different than he expected.
He completed most of his specialist training at Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital and in the United States.
During this period, he visited important clinics and professors of Facial Plastic Surgery in America, participated in their surgeries, and even became friends with them.
When he returned from America, he only had in mind to be interested in Facial Plastic Surgery and specialize in this field.
He became an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in October 2009.
In November 2009, he took the written stage of the European ENT Board exam organized by the European Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist examination commission in Vienna and became the third European ENT specialist to receive a high score.
In 2009-2010, he received an honorary scholarship and was invited to Europe to receive the “Official Fellowship” in Facial Plastic Surgery organized by the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. He became the first Turkish physician to receive this training.
After his “Facial Plastic Surgery” master’s training, he went to Washington D.C., USA in June 2010. He was successful in the Board exam held in the city, where he competed with his American colleagues.
For this reason, he was given the Facial Plastic Surgery Specialist diploma by the “International Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery”. He became the third Turkish physician to receive this diploma.
He worked at Ünye State Hospital as a compulsory service between 2010 and 2012.
He started working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ear Nose and Throat Diseases at Sakarya University in October 2012, and received the title of Associate Professor in October 2015.
He successfully completed the oral part of the Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Board Exam organized by the European Union Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgery Associations in November 2015. He was entitled to receive the European Union Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Board Diploma.
He left his academic position in December 2015 and started to serve his patients in the field of FACIAL SURGERY in his private practice.
In June 2016, he was awarded the “Oral, Facial and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist” diploma by the Ministry of Health as a result of his scientific studies in this field, the training he received and his surgical experience.
There are more than 30 international and more than 20 national scientific publications, most of which have his name.
He also described 7 different surgical techniques and introduced them to the world medical literature.
He received the third prize at the Turkish Rhinology Congress held in April 2015 with his scientific work titled “Reconstructive surgery of the patient with partial nasal and lip amputation after human bite”. ‘
He received the third prize for scientific research in the field of Rhinology with his work titled “Investigation of the relationship between osmophobia and the sense of smell in migraine patients” at the Turkish National Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Congress held in November 2014.
He participated in his scientific research on Rhinology-Allergy/Facial Plastic Surgery/Sleep Disorders with his scientific study titled “Comparison of crushed, morcellized and chopped cartilage graft viability with confocal microscope” at the Turkish National Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Congress held in November 2013. The research received the second prize in Turkey.
He served as an invited speaker and represented our country in more than 60 international and national congresses.
He has presented more than 80 papers in international and national congresses.
His scientific studies have been cited 267 times by reputable foreign journals.
He has been working as an instructor at the Facial Plastic Surgery School organized by the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery Association for five years.
I am the organizer of the “Nose aesthetic meetings” congresses, which have been held regularly in Sapanca for the last five years and followed with a very high participation.
Study Abroad:
In May 2014, Prof. Dr. at the University of California Davis Medical Center, Department of Facial Plastic Surgery, in the city of Sacramento in the United States. He visited Jonathan Sykes for 6 weeks.
In May 2014, for a week in Boston, St. Louis, USA. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine clinic, Prof.Dr. He visited Peter J. Catalano as an observer physician.
In May 2011, he spent two weeks in Arkansas, USA, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, Prof.Dr. He visited James Suen as an observer physician.
In April 2011, he spent two weeks in Los Angeles, USA, with Prof.Dr. Rollin visited Daniel.
Between February 2010 and April 2010, Prof.Dr.Me worked at St.Georges University Hospital, Maxillofacial Surgery Department in London, England.
