Scientists have discovered different properties of adipose tissue in recent years.

One of them is that it has a very important repair ability thanks to the growth factors and hormones contained in fat tissue. The ability to repair has attracted the attention of scientists searching for the secrets of long life and many experiments have been done on our oils. Then the cosmetics industry and the aesthetic sector incorporated oils into everyday use.

How fat transfer is performed?

This process should not be confused with liposuction. In liposuction, a very high percentage of fat is drawn and the main purpose is to thin, shrink or shape the areas where the  fat is collected and removed from the body.

The fats taken from our body are usually centrifuged and separated from the tissue fluids and blood. Fat in the belly, buttocks, hips, or legs are the most commonly preferred areas for this procedure.

Thus, in a sense, adipose tissues are further purified during this process. It is injected into the desired areas. Because of our example; to enlarge our lips, to clarify our cheekbones, to camouflage bags under our eyes, to make our small jaw more prominent or to make our asymmetrical face more symmetrical.

These procedures must be performed in the hospital and operating room environment. Although it is a much simpler procedure compared to other surgeries, no incision is made anywhere and therefore does not leave any marks, fat transfer must be performed under sterilized conditions and in the hospital environment where anesthesia measures are taken.

After fat transfer

Fat transfer can  cause swelling and edema in the region within the first month and then the desired appearance is achieved as the edema decreases. The persistence of fat filling varies between individuals. Many studies show that fat filling does not completely disappear even after many years.

What is the alternative to fat transfer?

As you know, synthetic products are also used for “filling”. These synthetic fillers, mostly containing hyaluranic acid, are actually the liquid produced between the tissues produced in the laboratory. There are some differences when comparing fat fillers with synthetic fillers. Retention time and rate are higher in fat fillings. The risk of allergy, which is found to be very low in hyaluranic acids, is not present because the fat filling is taken from our own body. It will be difficult to compare the two fillers as the cost will vary with the clinic where the application is made. However, if we consider that oil fillings can be injected at very high rates, we can say that fat fillers will always be more economical when compared with the same amount of synthetic fillers. There may be prolonged edema after fat filling and there is a risk of infection as it is a surgical intervention. In addition, there is a rare risk that the fat filler will not be able to provide effective volume due to the inability to adapt to the newly placed anatomical region.
